Site work and paving for a civil project in West Bath, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.

The project involves rock excavation, drainage improvements, full depth gravel reconstruction, and hot mix asphalt base paving on a 1,000 linear foot section near Elbow Hill of Birch Point Road. All bidders must furnish the following: 1. A completed Bid Form. 2. Experience Record (see Section 2-D). 3. A list of all subcontractors to be utilized on the project. 4. A bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid in the form of a Bid Bond or certified check, made out to the Town of West Bath. The successful bidder must furnish the following: 1. Certificate of Insurance (in accordance with Section 3, Article 26) 2. 100% Construction Performance Bond 3. 100% Construction Labor and Material Payment Bond The Town of West Bath will have fourteen (14) calendar days within which to accept or reject any bid. The work can begin on or after August 5, 2024, and rock excavation activities can begin on or after September 3, 2024. The work shall be completed by November 1, 2024. Liquidated damages in the amount of $250 per day are contained in the Contract. The Town of West Bath reserves the right to adjust the quantities contained in the Bid Form as needed in order to stay within the project budget. The Town of West Bath reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any technical or legal deficiencies, and to accept any bid which is deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of West Bath, not necessarily the lowest bid. Work under this contract: A. Work under this Contract includes all work required for the Birch Point Road Reconstruction Phase 2 project for the Town of West Bath. In general, the work involves common and rock excavation, full depth gravel reconstruction, hot mix asphalt base paving, and drainage system improvements on a 1,000 linear foot section of Birch Point Road. The Contractor is required to complete all work required by the Contract Documents to affect a complete job. B. Specific items of work are included, but are not limited to: 1) Providing construction signage, and maintaining traffic control for the entirety of the project. One lane of traffic must be maintained throughout construction excluding intermittent road closures not to exceed 15-minute durations. 2) The Contractor is responsible for dust control, and soil erosion and sedimentation control throughout the duration of the project. 3) Tree and brush removal (incidental). 4) Common excavation and rock excavation. 5) Installation of 6" Type B Underdrain. 6) Stone-lined ditching, grass-lined ditching, flushing existing culverts, and installing 18" HDPE culvert with inlet/outlet riprap protection. 7) Installing gravel base course (MaineDOT Type A) and subbase course (MaineDOT Type D). 8) Installation of steel beam guardrail and riprap slope protection. 9) Installation of 2" hot mix asphalt base pavement (19.0 mm). 10) Installing butt joints at the beginning and end of work, as well as at all paved driveway matches. 11) Applying Erosion Control Mix. 12) Other incidental items required to complete the project.
