The Town of Amherst, as awarding authority, is seeking written quotations for drainage and grading work at the Community Gardens Parking Area located at 44 Belchertown Road in Amherst, MA. The purpose of this request for quotes is to select a firm that will: Provide all materials and labor to complete the drainage and grading work as shown on the attached Plan dated 4-30-24 and further detailed in the Scope of Work below. The Town of Amherst, MA established a community garden several years ago with an adjacent gravel parking area. The parking area is located at a lower elevation than the abutting properties causing storm water and other drainage of water to accumulate on the parking surface and ultimately access the garden area. This condition is further exacerbated by the existing grading of the parking surface. The goal of this project is to redirect storm water around the parking area and away from the community gardens, and repair the parking surface with proper grading and material. Project shall be completed by August 30, 2024. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a payment bond in the amount of fifty percent (50%) of the contract award, not later than ten (10) working days after the award notification. Bonds will be for one (1) year and shall be renewed annually at the Contractor's expense. Bonds are required on Ch. 149 contracts > $25,000. The Town of Amherst reserves the right to reject any and all quotes in whole or in part, and to waive informalities, when at its sole discretion is deemed to be in the best interests of the Town and to the extent permitted by law.
