Saving Project...

Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Durham, New Hampshire. Completed plans call for the construction of a 11,400-square-foot educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

The University is partnering with The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on a grant funded project to create a new Ocean Mapping Center for Excellence facility to be located at "The Edge" neighborhood on its Durham campus. "The Edge" refers to an envisioned future neighborhood of collaborative research, office, retail, residential, and auxiliary spaces located in the area of West Edge Drive on the UNH campus in Durham, NH. Building on the substantial expertise and experience of the faculty and staff of the Joint Hydrographic Center and Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (JHC/CCOM), as well as the existing facilities and infrastructure at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) that currently support hydrographic and ocean mapping research, training, and field programs, UNH proposes to build a new facility that will serve as a nexus for government, private sector and NGO partners. The new ocean mapping center of excellence facility will provide 20,500 square feet of office, training, and high-bay space to transition technology developments in mapping platforms, sensors, and concepts into operations; grow the pool of well-qualified talent in the field of ocean mapping through applied training for ocean mapping and hydrographic surveying operations; provide technical support for ocean mapping technologies to operators in the field on an increasingly diverse set of platforms; and leverage public-private partnerships in advancing the nation's ocean and Great Lakes mapping goals. The NOAA project will be executed using a Design-Build delivery model across two of the three project phases, reflecting the expected availability of funding. The innovation high bay described below will be Phase 1. Phase 2 will complete 5,000 square feet of NOAA high-bay space, and 8,500 square feet of office and training space. The high-bay will include assembly areas, and uncrewed-vehicle work and storage areas. The high-bay will have a structural floor, overhead crane, power and IT to support specialized equipment, as well as sufficient clearance for uncrewed vehicle trailers and storage containers. Phase 1 will also construct an initial 11,400 square feet of the office, laboratory and training wing, including foundations, exterior walls, windows, floor and roof systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and tenant fit-out. Phase 3 will complete the complex with an additional 4,100 square foot space for the office, laboratory, and training wing. Each phase will result in a complete and operational facility. In sum, the office, laboratory, and training wing will provide a collaborative work environment that fosters interdisciplinary discussion and space sharing for over 20 personnel, embracing hybrid work modalities to maximize collaboration while being efficient about real estate footprint. The training space will be IT rich classrooms that support lecture style and team-teaching pedagogies. This flexibility will support workforce training with both hands-on and computer-based learning. Conference space for large and small scheduled meetings will be provided along with unscheduled collaboration space. Flexible space for dry and damp laboratory work will include work benches with robust power and HVAC controls. It is the Owner's goal to begin design immediately after award and to have Phase 1 Innovation High Bay construction work completed for a Certificate of Occupancy no later than March 2026 with building occupation commencing that same month. Payment and Performance Bonds: (required on all projects of $100,000 or greater) Awarded firm will be expected to provide payment and performance bonds, each in the amount of one hundred (100%) of the contract sum, as security for the faithful performance of its contract and for the payment of all persons performing labor or furnishing materials in connection therewith. The bonds shall be drawn and have as surety a surety company acceptable to the Owner. The bonds shall be worded exactly like the bonds referenced in these documents.
