Apply 2" Type II base course to the full width of the road. o From Ski Bridge to a point just beyond Roundabout Road (approximately 2449 East Mountain Road), patch any holes. o Apply 3/4 " of Type IV shim the full width of the road from the intersection with Route 4 to a point just beyond the intersection with Roundabout Road (approximately 2449 East Mountain Road). o The Contractor shall key the new pavement into the existing pavement. The key shall be at least 2 inches deep and 6 feet wide across the entire width of road. Longitudinal joints shall be tapered. o match existing pavement and grades at each driveway to provide a smooth paved transition o The Town reserves the right to add or subtract from this scope at its discretion. The Town of Killington requests proposals to reclaim, pave, and provide pavement markings for East Mountain Road. The following is a brief description of the project: o Full-width reclaim from the intersection with Route 4 to upper end of intersection with Bear Mountain Road. Provide 2" base coat and 3/4 " topcoat. o From Ski Bridge to a point just beyond Roundabout Road (approximately 2449 East Mountain Road), patch any holes and apply 3/4 " shim. o Contractor will provide approximate quantities in Project Sheet. o Application of bituminous concrete pavement shall meet all the requirements of the current Vermont Standard Specifications for Construction. o All surfaces shall be clean and free of contaminants prior to installation of new pavement. This includes but is not limited to sweeping and other cleaning as necessary to ensure proper bonding. o All pavement shim shall consist of Type IV material. o All "overlays" or wear courses shall consist of Type IV materials. o All base courses shall consist of Type II material. o Tack coat shall consist of emulsion RS-1 and shall be applied just prior to pavement process to ensure the coating is tacky. o Compaction - Immediately after the bituminous mixture has been spread, struck off and surface irregularities adjusted, it shall be thoroughly compacted by rolling to achieve an optimum compaction rate of 95%. The surface shall be rolled when the mixture is in the proper condition and when the rolling device does not cause cracking or shoving under displacement. o The Contractor shall match existing pavement and grades at each driveway to provide a smooth paved transition. o The Contractor shall key the new pavement into the existing pavement. The key shall be at least 2 inches deep and 6 feet wide across the entire length of road. Longitudinal joints shall be tapered. o Testing for temperature of the mix will be performed by the contractor and provided to the Public Works Director at the time of paving. Bituminous mixtures, at the time of discharge from the haul vehicle, shall be at a temperature of not less than 225 degrees F or more than 325 degrees F. In addition, the Town may require a certification from the supplier of the mix being provided and/or a Town representative may conduct on-site monitoring. o The Contractor shall be responsible for traffic control including but not limited to proper signage, certified flaggers, and lane closures if required. o Any contractor bidding is responsible for confirmation of all measurements and/or estimated quantities prior to bidding. o Contractor is expected to work within the Town's rights-of-way; any work outside of those rights-of-way and necessary permissions associated with it are the sole responsibility of the contractor. o Any contractor bidding acknowledges that all prices include mobilization, emulsion, trucking, material disposal, traffic control, compaction testing, and all incidental materials, tools, equipment, and labor not specifically outlined but required to complete the work. o Access to all driveways shall be maintained throughout the project, unless otherwise agreed to in writing between the contractor and individual property owners. o Damage by the contractor to personal property, Town property, or any utilities during construction shall be repaired by the contractor at their sole expense, to a condition matching or exceeding pre-construction conditions. o The contractor shall comply with all applicable local, Federal, and State regulations, requirements, and laws, including those associated with any permitting. o The selected contractor will be responsible for contacting Dig Safe and/or local utilities prior to commencement of construction. o The contractor shall, at all times, comply with all safety requirements (such as those required by OSHA and VOSHA), maintain a safe job site, and protect the safety of the public. o Painting of traffic lines will be completed under a contract the town has with another vendor. o The Town reserves the right to add or subtract from this scope at its discretion.
