Fire Station #5 Roof Replacement project as requested by the City of Cedar Rapids Facilities Maintenance Services Division. Scope of Work 2.1 Contractor shall remove and properly dispose of the existing gutter, downspouts and metal drip edge. 2.2 Contractor shall remove and properly dispose of the existing EPDM membrane and 1/2 " wood fiber cover board. The existing built-up roof system shall remain in place. The existing built-up roof system contains asbestos. Contractor shall refer to the attachment section for report. 2.3 Contractor shall inspect the condition of the built-up roof system. Any wet, damaged, or unsuitable builtup roofing shall be removed by an asbestos abatement contractor and shall be coordinated with the Project Manager for a contract amendment before any work is completed. 2.4 Any damaged, unsuitable, or wet tectum roof decking shall be replaced. Work shall be coordinated with the Project Manager before any work is completed. 2.5 Contractor shall repair the damaged roof deck on the southwest corner of the "tower". 2.6 Contractor shall furnish and install new wood nailers around the perimeter and roof top penetrations as needed to receive the new roof insulation. 2.7 Contractor shall furnish and mechanically attach two (2) layers of 2" ISO insulation. Insulation fastening pattern shall be as required for warranty. 2.8 Contractor shall furnish and adhere one (1) layer of .060 EPDM membrane over the new roof insulation per roofing manufacturer warranty specifications. Approved EPDM Roofing Manufacturers: o Versico o Elevate o Carlisle 2.9 Contractor shall properly flash all existing rooftop penetrations. Curbs shall be raised as needed to meet minimum flashing height. Membrane flashings shall be completed by Contractor. All Work per roofing manufacturer warranty specifications. 2.10 Contractor shall furnish and install necessary membrane edge flashings and sheet metal trims. 2.11 Contractor shall furnish and install new sheet metal fascia to cover newly installed perimeter edge wood nailers. 2.12 Contractor shall furnish and install ne 24 GA seamless 7" commercial grade gutter and downspouts. 2.13 Metal color shall be selected by the Project Manager from the manufacturer's list of standard colors. 2.14 Contractor shall provide a 15-year manufacturers material and labor warranty. 2.15 No masonry repair or replacement is part of this project. 2.16 No siding repair or replacement is part of this project. 2.17 Contractor shall provide interior protection and cleaning daily and upon project completion. 2.18 Contractor is responsible for protection of trees, plant life and landscaping from falling objects and any general damage caused by the work done on this project.
