The City of Lewes is seeking interested bidders for the maintenance dredging of the slips at the Canalfront Park Marina and identified private marinas. A Cashier's Check, Certified Check or Bid Bond payable to the City of Lewes must accompany each bid for 5% of the total amount of the bid. As soon as the bid has been awarded, the City of Lewes will return the checks or bonds of all unsuccessful bidders. The City of Lewes may waive any informalities or minor defects or reject any and all bids and accept the bid deemed to be in the best interest of the City. Hard copy bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope and may be hand delivered to The City of Lewes, 114 E. Third Street, Lewes, DE 19958. Each sealed bid envelope must be plainly marked on the outside as "BID FOR MAINTENANCE DREDGING," and the envelope should also bear the name and address of the bidder. If forwarded by mail, the sealed bid envelope must be enclosed in another envelope addressed to City Manager, Ellen Lorraine McCabe, The City of Lewes, PO Box 227, Lewes, Delaware 19958. The project includes the removal of approximately 4,921 cubic yards of sediment from the Lewes & Rehoboth Canal at the Lewes Canalfront Park Marina to a depth of -6 feet Mean Low Water (MLW), extending from the easternmost slip, west to - and including- the boat ramp/kayak launch area, starting at the bulkhead and going out to the -6' depth contour. The bulkhead stabilization improvements shall not be damaged by dredging operations. The dredged materials are to be conveyed to the Lewes & Rehoboth Canal Disposal Area DMPF Cell #2 operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District for dewatering and storage.
