Saving Project...

Renovation of a medical facility in Denver, Colorado. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

The intent of this project is to replace all Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP's) and all connected initiating and notification fire and life safety assemblies and devices at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Fort Logan (CMHHIFL) campus. CMHHIFL's program occupies buildings A, B, C, D, E, F1, H, J, 2, 5, 6, 7, 15, 16 ,17 and 18. The existing systems have met their useful life and are extremely difficult to maintain due to the lack in availability of replacement and repair parts. The system controls are difficult to navigate and the frequent need for repairs all necessitate the installations of new systems. Replacement parts for these assemblies cost more than newer parts due to their scarcity. Due to the age of the fire control system located in J plant building on the CMHHIFL campus, the system experiences regular failures. Replacing these assemblies will reduce the required added maintenance labor time and reduced repair costs. These fire detection systems provide notifications to the programs that occupy these buildings the notifications can range from requesting that a smoke head be cleaned, to informing staff members when a serious emergency is taking place. These buildings house a variety of programs that include, but are not limited to, 24-hour residential treatment programs and housing, support programs that provide medical, recreational, culinary services, and offices for administrative support. All of these program users are bound by licensure requirements that are currently not being met due to the numerous failures and in their ability to meet the current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements. Joint Commission and Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDHPE), both of which follow NFPA requirements, have cited issues with items related to testing and how these panels relay that information.
