Renovation of an educational facility in Vancouver, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
UBC intends to renovate the 3rd floor west wing conference space of the Leon and Thea Koerner University Centre located at 6331 Crescent Road, Point Grey Campus, for the newly designated Wall Collaboration Centre. The University Centre is an academic facility that supports teaching and research functions, is a host space for events and conferences, and is the operational hub and central kitchen for Sage Catering, operated by UBC Student Housing and Community Services (UBC SHCS). The building was constructed in 1957, original design by Fred Lasserre, with additions in 1968 and 1987. The University is inviting proposals for pre-qualifications for the renovation of the 3rd floor west wing and roof top patio . The Wall Collaboration Centre will serve as a venue for the UBC Peter Wall Legacy Awards Program (Wall Fellows, Wall Research Awardees) and members of the UBC community to congregate, exchange ideas and collaborate. The WCC project will provide an upgrade to the functionality and aesthetics of the meeting room environment. Changes will include aesthetic upgrades, rooftop patio resurfacing and upgrades, catering servery improvements, replacement of patio access doors and modernization of AV services. See the attached feasibility drawings and scope of work summary table. The construction period for the WCC renovation has been established in coordination with affected building users and Sage Catering to ensure that no events are scheduled in the building during the pre-determined construction period from November 2025 to March 2026. Additionally, Sage Catering kitchen, located on the lower floor of the University Centre will remain operational throughout construction to service event spaces and food outlets in other buildings on campus, thus necessitating coordination of any mechanical/electrical work and/or deliveries that might impact Sage Catering daily operation. *The RFPQ was cancelled by the owner and did not proceed.
