The project is generally described as: conduct well testing and evaluation, install new pump, pour replacement concrete pad, move and set existing pump house at the St. Brides Correctional Center, 701 Sanderson Rd, Chesapeake, VA. The time for project substantial completion is 120 days (from the notice to proceed to substantial completion). Final completion will be achieved 30 days after substantial completion. General Description: Conduct well testing and evaluation, install new pump, new concrete pad, move and set existing pump house. Furnish all the materials, labor, equipment, tools, transportation, and supervision for a complete project that includes (but is not limited to) the following work: 1. Remove the existing submersible pump assembly and flush water in the well overnight. 2. Conduct a Camera Survey/video of the entire casing to determine the condition of the well casing and screens and provide analysis and recommendations. 3. The well will be chlorinated overnight, and the de-chlorinated water will be pumped off. Pull a new well series samples and 1st Bacteriological sample. 4. Conduct a 48-hour Yield and Drawdown test and monitor well level and collect new well samples series for analysis. 5. Proceed with well chlorination and installation of new permanent pump designed to pump 140 GPM@ 100' TDH, set on approx. 80' of 2-1/2" riser pipe with new submersible cable. 6. Tie-in new piping into the existing discharge piping. 7. Submit test data and analysis of well along with any recommendations. 8. Disassemble the existing building. 9. Demo and remove existing concrete pad and dispose of debris offsite. 10. Form, place 6" gravel, install rebar (#4 at 6" o.c. each way), and re-pour 10'x4"x12'x4"7" Pad, 4'x8'x7" Entry Pad and 2'6"x1'6"x8" Splash Block. Use min. 4,500 psi conc. 11. Reassemble the existing building, set the building plumb and level, and anchor the building to the newly poured pad after adequate cure time. Seal all cracks and holes. Additional Information: 1. All work is outside the secure perimeter fence. 2. The location of Well #1 is provided in the attached drawing. 3. The estimated depth of the existing well is 152 ft. and the pump set is 105 ft. according to information on file. Well#1 has been offline since 2005. 4. The pump test water can be sent to a drainage ditch that is connected to two large ponds onsite. The ditch is approximately 75 ft. from the well site. De-chlorinate the discharge 5. Recommended project work hours are Monday thru Friday from 6:30am to 4:00PM. 6. No bid bond is required. We will use the standard DEB Form CO-9 construction contract. Site Access: 1. Any site visit must be coordinated with the ESU site staff. 2. Access to well#1 can be gained by going through the security checkpoint at the entrance of the institution. Then simply drive around the backside of the prison to the old building and grounds building. The well is located right behind the old B&G building.
