Renovation of a water / sewer project in Wasilla, Alaska. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The City of Wasilla reserves the right to reject any or all bids/proposals and waive any procedural informality. Disabled persons needing reasonable accomodation in order to participate should contact the Purchasing Officer at least one week in advance of the bid opening. Project Funds have been earmarked specifically for the design and construction of the Wasilla Old Matanuska Road Booster Station. Identified in Alternate 2, the Old Matanuska Road Booster Station will be required to maintain pressure from the eventual connection to Palmer's system via the Blue Lupine route. The total project magnitude is approximately $2.2 million with an estimated construction cost of $1.7 million. . Design tasks may include but are not limited to survey, design, utility coordination, limited environmental, and construction management. Construction tasks may include but are not limited to water main extension, site work, structure construction, electrical and mechanical installation. The City will likely need to develop an alternative site for the Old Matanuska Booster/PRV. The existing site of the Old Matanuska PRV facility is constrained necessitating the need for an alternate site to accommodate the eventual need for a booster station facility. If land acquisition is required, supporting design services including mapping, appraisal and negotiations may be added to this project. 5.02 Alternate Projects As the Old Matanuska Road Booster Station is one component of the Palmer-Wasilla water main interconnect, the functionality is dependent on the completion of Alternative 2 and connection of the City of Wasilla and the City of Palmer systems in a yet to be funded project. Alternate projects have been included in this RFP to allow flexibility if priorities shift or funds are secured for more immediate city water infrastructure and facility needs. As part of the Palmer-Wasilla Interconnect Alternate 1, The City has identified the segment of water main extension from the Spruce Reservoir east to approximately Peck Street along Spruce Avenue (approx. 4,100 LF) as a near-term project. This water main extension would run adjacent to a small, isolated City water system at Lacy Laine Subdivision at Lacy Loop and tie in of service at this point could alleviate operational redundancy. Spruce Avenue is owned and maintained by the City making coordination of construction in this area practical. Additionally, there are several large privately owned parcels adjacent to this route that could be candidates for dense development utilizing City water utilities versus onsite water production via private well(s). The Hermon Road water main extension is currently being designed concurrently with the Alaska DOT&PF Hermon Road project. This approximately 1800 LF water main extension would connect the existing system at the Parks Highway along Hermon Road to the proposed Maney Road reservoir and booster station. The additional capacity provided by this extension and connection would provide service to the surrounding area and redundancy to the commercial Sun Mountain Development area. Extension of the water main North of the Parks Hwy. at the east end of Sun Mountain Avenue has been identified as a potential alternative project route. Large tracts within the City including the "Old Sears" and Kings Chapel development could benefit from connection to the City's water utility. This extension could connect from the Sun Mountain main to the Seward Meridian main near Wal-Mart for future connectivity.
