Beginning on Thursday, Nov. 14, crews will be reconstructing I-43's southbound lanes, and traffic between Glen Oaks Lane and just south of Donges Bay Road will be shifted east onto the northbound lanes, according to a Nov. 8 Facebook post by the WisDOT's I-43 North-South Project account. Additionally, the southbound ramps at Mequon Road will close through spring 2025. WisDOT encouraged drivers to detour around it, using the southbound exit ramp to Highland Road, Port Washington Road, and the County Line Road entrance ramp to I-43 southbound. Starting on Nov. 14, traffic between Glen Oaks Lane and just south of Donges Bay Road will be shifted east onto the northbound lanes, WisDOT said. The 14-mile stretch where the entire reconstruction project is taking place begins at Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee County and extends north to Highway 60 in Ozaukee County. In total, the project will expand I-43 from four to six lanes, reconstruct five interchanges along the corridor, add a new interchange at Highland Road and replace the Union Pacific railroad bridge over I-43 in Glendale. It will also expand a section of Port Washington Road in Glendale from two to four lanes.
