This project is funded by the Province of BC Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants Program which supports the CleanBC strategy through community-specific active transportation networks that are safe, accessible and convenient for all ages and abilities. The focus of the Program is primarily on infrastructure that supports safer walking, cycling, rolling, and use of mobility devices (that are legal to use on roads in British Columbia). However active transportation, which is human-powered, encompasses many forms including: using a wheelchair or other mobility device, skateboarding, winter focused activities such as skiing or water-based activities such as kayaking, canoeing or stand-up paddleboard. The Strathcona Regional District (Regional District) is seeking proposals from qualified firms for the development of an Active Transportation Network Plan for Electoral Area C (Discovery Islands-Mainland Inlets). This project also includes the development of an Implementation Plan, including site assessments, engineered design drawings, and preparation of construction cost estimates to ensure shovel readiness of Plan priorities.
