The Township of Woolwich is seeking the services of experienced and qualified playground contractors to submit proposals for the supply of all labour, material and equipment necessary for the design, supply, delivery and installation of playground equipment at Maryhill Heritage Park, located at 58 St. Charles Street East, Maryhill. Scope of Work Project scope is to include removal of the existing playground and surface material, except for the swing-set, and supply and installation of new Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved playground equipment and other quality, certified, industry standard grade materials for surfacing and containment. Excavation and disposal of existing playground equipment, from the playground area, surface material, subsurface drainage, geotextile fabric, and all other related works shall be the responsibility of the Proponent. Submission designs are to conform with the Design of Public Spaces Standard of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Proponents shall ensure positive surface and subsurface drainage, including geotextile fabric, drainage stone and tile. Proponents are encouraged to design their playground within the existing footprint; however, it can be increased to provide a more user-friendly space or accommodate additional equipment. The Township requires the surface material be composed of engineered wood fiber (EWF) meeting CSA safety drop standards. EWF shall be sourced from Fiber Top or Growers Choice. The proponent shall install a minimum of 12 inches of packed EWF. The playground equipment shall meet or exceed the current CSA Children's Play spaces and Equipment standards - CAN/CSA-Z614:20. Proponents are encouraged to prepare a design that provides innovative and exciting play opportunities for a range of preschool to school age children (ages 2-12 years). In addition, proponents shall include accessible features as well as sensory features. As noted above, the existing swing-set frame shall remain; existing seating shall be replaced with an accessible swing-seat, a toddler swing-seat as well as 2 standard swing-seats. Proponents shall include a 4.5m x 4.5m sandbox, constructed out a double stacked perimeter of 6-inch x 6-inch timbers, ~1 inch above grade. Geotextile fabric shall be placed 0.6m below grade and filled with sand from the existing playground. The sandbox shall be located outside of the existing playground footprint. Proponents may include a sandbox play feature as part of the design.
