This project will improve the intersection operations and safety at the NH Route 28 and Stonehenge Road intersection in Londonderry with a newly constructed single lane roundabout. This project reconstructs and widens the north leg, NH 28, from immediately south of Woodhenge Circle, shifting the alignment slightly to the west approaching the roundabout; constructs and realigns 915 ft of the southerly leg, NH 28, shifting the alignment to the west to approach the roundabout from the south with appropriate geometry for traffic to enter the roundabout; and reconstructs 390 ft of the westerly leg, Stonehenge Road. The sub-base materials and drainage will be built out for a potential future widening of the northerly approach to the roundabout to include an auxiliary south bound right turn lane. The design includes a Best Management Practice (BMP) (swale) for stormwater treatment south of the roundabout and west of the realigned NH 28. Two culverts under NH 28 are being upgraded: _ A 24" culvert just north of the existing intersection will be upgraded to a 30" pipe and shifted north approximately 15'. _ A 30" culvert 420 feet south of the existing intersection will be upgraded to a 60" pipe at the same location with a slight lift in grade of 3" to prevent a conflict with a crossing telephone conduit line and the greater wall thickness of the 60" RCP.
