If you have questions please contact: Stephen Canzoneri, PIN-081059 NYSDOT Region 10 Public Information Officer 250 Veterans Memorial Highway Hauppauge, NY 11788 Phone: 631-952-6633 NY DOT - Preventive Maintenance Bridge Repairs - Town of Southampton The end face of the Column 10 at Pier 1 exhibits heavy concrete spalls up to 3.5" Deep with exposed and rusted main vertical reinforcement. The spalled area is approximately 9' H x 4' W on the lower portion of the column. A total of eight (8) reinforcing circular rings / stirrups are exposed with heavy corrosion. Seven (7) of these reinforcing rings / stirrups are broken / corroded with up to 100% section loss through. A total of eight (8) bars of vertical reinforcement are exposed and have heavy corrosion. Two (2) vertical reinforcement bars are de-bonded from the concrete. The Left face of the column exhibits a hollow-sounding delaminated concrete area approximately 4' H x 2.5' W with an up to 4' L x 3/16" W vertical crack at the top of the column, and a 2 Sq. Ft. hollow sounding delaminated concrete area at the bottom of the column adjacent to the severely spalled concrete. The 3/16" W vertical crack from Left Side extends into the pedestal area (the full width of the column) under bearing B10 on the Span 2 Side, and runs vertically downwards, approx. 2' L x up to 1/8" W. On the Right Side of the Column 10, there is a similar crack. The Right Face of the Column 10 exhibits a hollow-sounding delaminated concrete area approximately 3' H x 1' W with a 1 Sq. Ft. x 2" deep spall with exposed rusted reinforcement at the top of the column, and a 3.5' H x 3' W hollow-sounding delaminated concrete area at mid-height of the column adjacent to the severely spalled concrete. Temporary supports are installed around the column and are in sound condition. Install injection ports, seal the crack opening, inject the crack with epoxy (full depth for restoration work, or as deep as conditions allow for prevention work), and restore the sealed surface to a flush condition in areas visible to the public. Perform the work at locations indicated on the contract plans or where directed by the Engineer. This work shall consist of furnishing and installing Crack Sealing Using High Molecular Weight Methacrylate in accordance with the contract documents and as directed by the Engineer. This work shall consist of furnishing and installing ULTRA-HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE (UHPC) in accordance with the contract documents and as directed by the Engineer. Strength determination is permitted to be made through compressive testing or maturity testing. Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) includes, but is not limited to precast deck panel joints, closure pours, link slabs, and joint headers. It does not include bridge deck overlays. This work shall consist of: A. Removal and disposal of bridge railing tubes where shown on the contract plans. B. Furnishing and installing bridge railing tubes where shown on the contract plans. Material removed for disposal shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be removed from the work site. Within 15 days of contract and award date, the Contractorshall notify the Engineer of the name and address of the Fabricator of all bridge railing tubes. This notification shall identify and locate the specific shop or shops in which the railing will be fabricated. Under this work, the contractor shall furnish, install, maintain, operate, relocate, and remove Portable Work Zone Camera(s) in accordance with the contract documents and as directed by the Engineer. The intent of this specification is to provide deterrence and documentation of work zone intrusions and altercations for the protection of roadway workers. This work shall consist of collecting coordinate data and taking digital photographs of new or relocated subsurface utilities, exposed subsurface utilities, and large subsurface man-made objects exposed during construction in accordance with the contract documents and as directed by the Engineer. This work shall consist of removing the existing navigation lights and furnishing, installing, and placing in permanent operating condition all navigation lights, including safety and maintenance appurtenances and attachments to the bridge structure in accordance with the contract documents and as directed by the Engineer. Under this item the Contractor shall furnish and install conduit expansion fittings at each joint where conduits cross structure expansion joints to allow for expansion and contraction of the conduit relative to the structure. The conduits entering and leaving the expansion fitting shall be bonded across the fitting with an accompanying bonding strap sized in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. Under this item, the Contractor shall locate, identify and markout all underground Information for Motorists (INFORM) System facilities and State lighting facilities at each work location within the contract limits, in accordance with the contract documents and as directed by the Engineer. Under this work the contractor shall furnish and apply epoxy reflectorized pavement markings in accordance with these specifications, the Contract Documents, the NYSMUTCD, or as ordered by the Engineer. Items for Special Markings include stop bars and crosswalks. Yield line symbols are isosceles triangles with height equaling 1.5 times the base dimension: A small yield line symbol shall have a base dimension of one foot. A large yield line symbol shall have a base dimension of two feet. Yield line symbols are to be installed with the Apex of the triangle oriented towards oncoming traffic. The epoxy marking material shall be hot-applied by spray methods onto bituminous and portland cement concrete pavement surfaces at the thickness and width shown on the Contract Documents. Following a simultaneous application of Standard Glass Beads (Type 2) and Wet/Night Visibility Beads (Type 1), the cured epoxy marking shall be an adherent reflectorized stripe that will provide wet night retro-reflectivity.
