The University reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals (or parts of proposals), to waive any informalities or technicalities, to clarify any ambiguities in proposals and (unless otherwise specified) to accept any item in the proposal The contractor shall procure all necessary permits and licenses and abide by all applicable laws, regulations and ordinances of all federal, state and local governments in which work under this contract is performed. Seismic hazard assessment field activities requiring site preparation (clearing and grubbing), mobilization, vertical and angular soil/sediment drilling with continuous push sampling, as well as a suite of cone-penetrometer push measurements. The borings will extend to depths no greater than 55 feet below ground surface. Additional tasks include lithologic logging, test pit and trench excavation, borehole/excavation closure, and sediment core sample preservation/organization. These activities will be conducted at two sites at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PGDP) located in McCracken County, Kentucky (Figure 1). The intrusive activities are in support of seismic hazard investigators using the excavated test pits and trenches to assess shallow Holocene stratigraphy. Site preparation involving clearing/grubbing of wooded/scrub areas along seismic lines will be necessary for seismic survey data collection and drill rig access. Security fencing for active drilling sites, test pits and trenches will be necessary. Abandonment and closure of borings and excavated test pits and trenches will also be necessary.
