Shared School Purchasing Services, on behalf of the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, invites qualified General Contracting firms to submit a response to this Request for Supplier Qualifications for the construction of a new secondary school in Owen Sound, Ontario. Through this process, the Board intends to prequalify up to eight Proponents who will be invited to participate in the Stage II tender. Participation in this RFSQ does not create any contractual obligations and does not guarantee award of any future work. The following project information is an overview of the site, design and construction of the project. Appendix A - Drawings provides a preliminary Site Plan, Floor Plans for Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Exterior Elevations. This information is subject to change by the Board at any time. Based on early design information, the construction value is currently anticipated to be in the range of sixty million dollars. This figure is an estimate only and may change as the project advances toward the Stage II tender. The project will be constructed on a green field site with a building area of 108,709 square feet for the school and 9,537 square feet for shop building, totalling 118,245 square feet. The property is located west of County Road 5 (28th Ave E), and south of Highway 26 (16th Ave E) in a recently established area for medium-density residential development along the east edge of Owen Sound. The north, south, and west sides of the property are bordered by wooded lots and farmland. The east side of the property is bordered by 28th Ave E. The County Rail Trail runs along the west side of the property, and a future road (15th St E) will be constructed along the northern property edge. An existing watercourse currently runs through the site and will be maintained as part of the final site layout. The main school building is three-storeys and contains 23 general classrooms. The ground floor wraps around a central combination cafeteria/auditorium and houses administration and student success services, learning commons, family studies, special education room, triple gymnasium, music room, a dedicated indigenous room, servery, and a chapel. The second floor supports spaces for visual arts, robotics, computer labs, and green industries. The third floor accommodates general science, biology, physics and chemistry. Two exit stairs and an elevator compromise the primary vertical circulation. The main building has been designed to allow for future additions along the west side as the school grows. The design also includes an external shop building located south-west of the main building for automotive, construction, and manufacturing classes.
