The Town of Carrboro seeks a consultant to lead a comprehensive overhaul of its job classification and compensation system. The project will involve a collaborative process with Town employees to: Job Structure Optimization: 1. Conduct a thorough analysis of existing job titles and descriptions. 2. Reduce and standardize the number of job titles and descriptions. 3. Develop a job classification system that groups similar roles and functions into job families. 4. Create clear career progression ladders within job families where applicable. 5. Design alternative pay and career progression structures for positions not suitable for traditional career ladders. Compensation Philosophy and Structure: 1. Review and refine the Town's compensation philosophy to align with market trends and organizational goals. 2. Develop a compensation structure that supports equitable pay and rewards performance. 3. Benchmark job titles and descriptions against comparable organizations. 4. Update the Town's compensation study based on the new job classification system. Employee Engagement: 1. Facilitate employee involvement throughout the project to ensure buy-in and ownership of the new system. 2. Gather employee feedback on job duties, responsibilities, and career aspirations. The consultant will deliver a comprehensive job classification and compensation system that supports the Town's strategic objectives, attracts and retains top talent, and fosters employee engagement and development.
