Plans call for county to widen a series of roads from two-lane roadways to four-lane divided facilities. Other plans include building shared-use paths and sidewalks along the stretch of road. In addition, the county will install intersection upgrades, signage, alert signals, pavement markings and enforcement measures to increase safety. The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has awarded Dallas County $25 million to advance the Dallas County Inland Port (DCIP) Multimodal Connectivity Project.
