Asphalt Parking Lot Seal Coating, Crack Filling and Striping SPECIFICATIONS - Seal coating, crack filling and striping The proposed work will consist of seal coating, crack filling and striping at the following addresses: see attached maps. o 1111 W Lake St., Addison (sealcoat, stripe and crack fill) o 422 N Cass Ave, Westmont (sealcoat, stripe and crack fill) o 1111E Jackson St., Lombard (sealcoat, stripe and crack fill) o 438 N Ardmore Ave, Villa Park (sealcoat, stripe and crack fill) o 1211 Taft Ave., Wheaton (sealcoat, stripe and crack fill) o 142 Wood St, West Chicago (seal coating and crack fill driveway) o 875 S Ardmore Ave., Addison (seal coating and crack fill driveway) o 25W 765 Prairie, Wheaton (seal coating and crack fill driveway) o 22W666 Hackberry Dr, Glen Ellyn (seal coating and crack fill driveway) o 5N673 Sante Fe Tr., Bloomingdale (seal coating and crack fill driveway) General: 1. All work shall conform to the Illinois Standards for Road and Bridge Construction latest addition. 2. The CONTRACTOR is responsible at his own expense for the removal from the site of all spoils materials generated. 3. Access to the buildings and limited parking must always be maintained. Parking must be coordinated with the OWNER. 4. Barricades and temporary signage shall be used and provided by the CONTRACTOR to prevent unauthorized access onto incomplete patches or resurfacing. 5. The attached reduced site plans are not to scale. 6. All parking lot spaces are to be 9 feet wide with 4-inch striping. 7. The CONTRACTOR will be responsible for applying for, paying for and acquiring any required permits for the work being performed. Section I - Seal Coating and Crack Filling Parking Lots Seal Coat General Requirements A. Work Includes: 1. Preparation of surfaces to be sealed. 2. Patching and crack filling in existing bituminous paving. 3. Patch areas indicated in the reduced drawing. 4. Apply one coat of sealer to entire surface of paved areas. 5. Striping B. Materials: 1. Seal coat shall be a coal tar emulsion equal to RP 355 E and applied according to manufacturer's directions. 2. Crack filler shall be a hot pour rubberized crack sealing compound that meets both federal specification ss-sl64 and state D.O.T. specifications. 3. Slurry mixture shall be" Black Beauty grit", durable, hard, free from clay, salt, and organic matter, mixed at a rate of 4 to 6 pounds per gallon of sealer. Water shall be potable and above 45 degrees F C. Method of Work: 1. 4. Seal coat work shall only be done when the temperature of the air in the shade is above 45 degrees F. NO work shall be started if local conditions indicate that rain is imminent. Allow sealed area to cure for at least 24 hours before opening to traffic. The contractor is responsible for barricading all areas to be seal coated and shall coordinate and schedule all his work with the owner. 2. Surface to be sealed shall be cleaned. Any accumulations of earth, mud, or foreign material shall be removed before final cleaning. The entire area shall be swept, power blown, and if necessary flushed with water to clean it thoroughly. Oil or grease shall be scraped or burned off. If oil is still deeply impregnated in the asphalt surface but the pavement is physically sound, such areas shall be sealed with shellac or other suitable materials before applying seal coat. At the time of seal coating the surface shall be clean and dry. 3. Over the prepared pavement surface application shall be applied uniformly. Machine application: A variable speed power drive sealer unit with hydraulically driven agitator shall be used. Hand application: When necessary a nylon broom will be used. Cracks more than % inch must be filled with crack filler. All cracks to be sealed shall be routed out using a diamond tip or carbide tip router. All loose particles shall be blown out of cracks using compressed air prior to sealing. Seal all surface defects and cracks with crack filler. 5. Apply seal Coat at a rate of not less than 0.9 gallons per square yard. 6. Upon completion of work, remove all waste, debris, and surplus materials from site. Striping: 9. ' 7. Traffic lanes and parking spaces shall be marked as shown on the plan. Traffic paint shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, in one four (4) inches wide, unless otherwise shown. 8. Traffic paint shall be a latex base equal to" Benjamin Moore" M-58-101-SZ zone marking yellow or" Sherwin Williams", Fast dry, lead free, water borne yellow, T M 2321. Handicapped parking spaces must conform to A.D.A. requirements for symbols, width and access lane. Seal Coating and Crack Filling Parking Lots: 1111 W Lake Street Addison - work to be done after hours, weekends or holiday Approximate total 50,000 Sq. Ft Sealcoat, stripe and crack fill as needed, (exactly as indicated on map) o Seal, Stripe and crack fill to existing layout. o Scrape and re paint all curbs marked in yellow o Re-mark existing handicapped parking spaces o Re-mark diagonal lines in front of main entrance o Repaint all existing diagonal lines for no parking 1111 E Jackson St., Lombard - work to be done after hours, weekends or holiday Approximate total 42,000 Sq. Ft Sealcoat, stripe and crack fill as needed, (exactly as indicated on map) o Seal, Stripe and crack fill to existing layout. o Scrape and re paint all curbs marked in yellow o Re-mark existing handicapped parking spaces o Re-mark diagonal lines in front of main entrance o Repaint all existing diagonal lines for no parking 422 N Cass Ave, Westmont - work to be done after hours, weekends or holiday Approximate total 42,000 Sq. Ft Sealcoat, stripe and crack fill as needed, (exactly as indicated on map) o Seal, Stripe and crack fill to existing layout. o Scrape and re paint all curbs marked in yellow o Re-mark existing handicapped parking spaces o Re-mark diagonal lines in front of main entrance o Repaint all existing diagonal lines for no parking 1211 Taft Ave, Wheaton Approximate total 6300 Sq. Ft Sealcoat, stripe and crack fill as needed, (exactly as indicated on map) o Seal, Stripe and crack fill as needed. o Repaint all yellow curbs o Remark all existing handicap parking stalls o Repaint all existing diagonal lines for no parking o Repaint no parking signs on asphalt 438 N Ardmore Ave. Villa Park Approximate total 7,000 Sq. Ft Sealcoat, stripe and crack fill as needed, (exactly as indicated on map) o Seal, Stripe and crack fill as needed. o Repaint all yellow curbs and repaint no parking signs on the asphalt o Remark all existing handicap parking stalls o Repaint all existing diagonal lines for no parking Provide Cost for Seal coating and Crack filling Driveways o 142 Wood St, West Chicago o 875 S Ardmore Ave., Addison o 25W 765 Prairie, Wheaton o 22W666 Hackberry Dr, Glen Ellyn o 5N673 Sante Fe Tr., Bloomingdale
