As of July 24, 2025, per owner, project is in design phase. Design team identified. This Campus Repair & Renovation project is located on the campus of the NC School for the Deaf in Morganton, NC. The planned work includes: (1) Campus Exterior Lighting LED Replacement ($952,000): This project consists of replacing and installing new exterior lighting across the entire NC School for the Deaf (NCSD) campus in Morganton. This includes fixtures and associated infrastructure. Isolated concrete/asphalt demolition and repair will occur. Existing lighting is too dim, or nonexistent and new LED lighting will be more efficient. (2) Alumni Field and Track Bleachers ($206,000): The Alumni Field at the NC School for the Deaf (NCSD) in Morganton does not have any permanent bleachers for spectators. The existing track and field is in a dilapidated state. The track will be repaved and minor field drainage and reseeding will occur. Bleachers will be installed for 200 spectators and participants for NCSD events. NCSD will also welcome the new neighboring NC School of Science and Mathematics to utilize the field and track for combined morale events. (3) Campus Paving and Restriping ($625,000): The pavement across the NC School for the Deaf (NCSD) campus in Morganton needs an overlay with potential milling necessary to prepare the surface. The current pavement has several potholes, spalling locations, tripping hazards and deteriorated pavement and striping. The pavement shall be overlayed, restriping will occur, and minor associated drainage improvements will be made to promote a safe pedestrian traffic, driving and parking environment at the NCSD campus.
