The work involves the construction of a viewing deck overlooking Laurentian Lake and the Nature Chalet located at 2309 South Bay Road, Sudbury, ON. The Owner is the Nickel District Conservation Authority operating as Conservation Sudbury. A completion date on or before October 11, 2024 is desired however completion by December 13, 2024 is acceptable; please note that winter conditions can set in as early as October 31 in some years. The site is private property but is immediately adjacent to an open parking lot. The drawings have been accepted and approved to an existing open permit with the City of Greater Sudbury. No other permitting is required. Tasks include, but are not limited to: - Site preparation should be minimal as the viewing deck formerly in place has been largely removed. - Construction of new structure in accordance with approved plans. - Environmental considerations. - Contractor, Owner and Public safety measures during all stages. The form of contract shall be CCDC 2MA. Warranty period shall be 18 months from final completion. A built-in prequalification process is included and is described in the Documents section. This project is in a public park setting. This is a challenging site with trail access and steep cliff conditions. There is no electric power or other utilities at the project site. Cell service is good. The nearby hiking trail will remain open to the public however the project site can be closed off without impact to trail users. Bidders are encouraged to attend the optional site meeting but may attend the site at any time.
