A. The work of the contract is summarized as Partial Roof Replacement at Berkeley Elementary School, Spotsylvania County, Virginia as described in the Contract Documents prepared by Quinn Evans Architects, dated March 24, 2023. The project is generally described as a roof replacement. There will also be building alterations associated with the roof drainage including exterior walls, ceilings at the building interior and soffits at selected locations. B. The work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following 1. General a. Coordination with subcontractors, inspectors, and Spotsylvania County officials and/or representatives. b. Coordination with testing laboratories as designated in the documents. c. Cleanup and disposal of all construction materials and debris. 2. Building Construction: a. Selective demolition. b. Roof replacement and miscellaneous related work. c. Plumbing. d. Roof drainage modifications. e. Preparation, priming and painting of ladders, roof hatch covers & vents. f. Cleaning of all areas impacted by construction operations. g. Repairs to drives, walks and lawns in areas impacted by construction operations. C. Type of Contract: 1. Project will be constructed under a single prime contract. Questions will be received until August 2, 2024 by noon The project is generally described as Partial Roof Replacement at Salem Elementary School, 4501 Jackson Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. The Owner will accept proposals from all Contractors qualified under the terms of the Documents and who attend the Mandatory Pre-bid Conference. Either a cashier's or certified check must accompany bids or an acceptable bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the base bid, made payable to the County of Spotsylvania. Bidders must be licensed contractors in the Commonwealth of Virginia in accordance with Title 54.1, Chapter 11 of the Code of Virginia as amended; and meet requirements of Title 2.2, Chapter 43, Paragraph 2.2-4311, Employment Discrimination Prohibitions and Paragraph 2.2-4312, Drug Free Workplace. The contract will be awarded on a lump sum base bid to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The Spotsylvania County School Board reserves the right to award the contract in whole or in part.
