The City of Champaign is requesting Letters of Interest to provide professional architectural design services. The firm selected will design a new Fire Station to replace the City's Fire Station No. 3. The current fire station is located at 702 West Bradley Avenue in the City of Champaign. The City intends to use a qualification-based selection process for the procurement of these services (City of Champaign Administrative Policy 2.08). This selection is for this specific project, with work starting in the last quarter of calendar year 2024. Project Description: The selected architectural firm will provide architectural services to design a new Fire Station No. 3. The design will adhere to current NFPA standards, current City of Champaign Building Code, and input from key stakeholders. The design team will determine the optimal space and layout required to accommodate sleeping quarters, food preparation, physical fitness, administration, training, community education, vehicle and equipment storage and maintenance, and hazardous materials storage. The design team will evaluate the current location of Fire Station No. 3 at 702 West Bradley Avenue and determine if there is enough area to construct the new station. Alternative locations may also be evaluated during the design process. The design team will evaluate the adjacent infrastructure (streets and sidewalks, overhead electric, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, etc.) and determine if any improvements will be needed to accommodate the new station.
