Description
The Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking expressions of interest from engineering consulting firms to provide professional engineering services for the design and construction support for safety, operational and shared use trail improvements to Route 7 between Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) and the I-495 Interchange in Fairfax County.
The scope of work will include, but not be limited to, providing professional engineering
services for the design and construction support for safety, operational and shared use trail
improvements to the Route 7 project between Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) and the I-495
Interchange. which is approximately 0.78 miles. The existing Route 7 segment is classified
as an Urban Principal Arterial and runs east-west with six lanes (3 lanes in each direction)
and has a 35 MPH speed limit. This section of road has an AADT (Average Annual Daily
Traffic) of 86,000 vehicles per day (2020 traffic data) and a service road on both sides of
Route 7.
