Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Sanford, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

O.T. Sloan Park is over 40 years old and has served Lee County well during that time. O.T. Sloan Park is also the most centralized park in Lee County. Bringing all divisions of the Parks and Recreation Department together, with the exception of San-Lee Park operations, is beneficial externally and internally. Lee County residents would now have a central recreation hub for programming, registrations, and learn about Parks and Recreation information. The department is currently forced to use the school gyms for indoor recreation, but can only use them certain times of the day. This creates obstacles for the department when it comes to planning for a structured schedule. With the Recreation Center, staff will have full access to three (3) gymnasiums that will be utilized for basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, pickleball, dance, etc. As of July 29, 2024, this project is included in the county 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
