Renovation of a warehouse / distribution facility in Sanford, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a warehouse / distribution facility.
This facility would be located on the current site of the Jonesboro Elementary School, which is needing to be demolished due to a fire that occurred in April 2023. This land is next to the current School Bus Garage for Lee County Schools. It has been proposed to redevelop this whole site jointly with the school system. This project would consist of a new 30,000 sq ft warehouse that would consist of 22,400 sq ft of storage for EM vehicles, 5,200 sq ft of storage for LCSO, and 11 total offices for COLTS to use for their operations. There would be a large fenced area around the warehouse that could house COLTS vans while not in use, hopefully providing them with much better protection. As of July 29, 2024, this project is included in the county 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
