Repair of two culverts located under Homer and Grove Streets and improvements to the headwalls at each culvert. Removal of trees and brush, installation of gabion baskets and steel guard rails. In accordance with Section 103 of Article 5-A of the General Municipal Law, sealed Bids for the repair and improvement of two culverts located on Homer Street and Grove Street are requested from qualified contractors. Project work includes the following items: A. Supply and install a number of cut stone replacement blocks within the barrel of each culvert. B. Repairtheheadwallsofeachculvertbyaddingcutstonesandgabionbasketsfilledwith stone blocks to stabilize the headwalls. C. Cut down and remove a number of trees and brushnear each culvert. D. Demolish and remove existing chain link fencing along one culvert. E. Provide and install new guard rails near one of the culverts. F. Contractor to supply all materials and labor for the project. G. Work must be completed at New York State Prevailing Wage Rates as published by the New York State Department of Labor, and certified pay role documents proving that prevailing wages were paid must be provided for all work. The Village reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any informalities, or to make an award to other than the low bidder. It further reserves the right to limit the amount of the award. The Village does not discriminate on the basis of handicapped status in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs and activities. No sales tax is to be charged for materials or labor for the project. The winning bidder will be supplied with a tax exempt certificate for the project. 1. Project Location: On Grove and Homer Streets in the Village of Union Springs. 2. Existing culverts: are hand laid stone arch culverts about 5' tall and 4' wide with roadways above. Several stones have fallen out of each culvert and been washed away during flooding. 3. Project work required: a. Make repairs to each culvert within the barrel by cutting new stones to the needed dimensions and inserting them into the holes where stones have fallen out over the years. b. Fill the spaces behind missing stones and around new stones with grout. c. Make similar repairs to missing stones in the headwall outside of the barrel of each culvert. d. Add gabion baskets at headwalls to direct water flow into culverts more efficiently. Adding the gabions will require clearing of a number of large trees and brush. Estimated contract value is $100,000 - $150,000. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
