The grant comes from the Resilient Florida Program, an initiative of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Bulkheads are structural partitions in a ship's hull that help to divide the vessel into separate compartments for enhanced stability and safety by containing water in case of leaks or damage. PortMiami will use program funds to build a new elevated bulkhead system at Berth 10.
