Sunnyside Yard Paving Improvements Amtrak is seeking a contractor to perform asphalt repairs/paving at the following locations to repair existing roadways and apply asphalt paving over railroad crossings: Location 1 - Roadway Repairs - the contractor will supply labor, materials and perform roadway repairs in accordance with the specifications at Location 1A & 1B within Sunnyside Yard. Combined, locations 1A and 1B have a total area of 275 square feet. Amtrak forces will remove the existing soil fill and level the area in preparation for the paving. The contractor will perform compaction of the exposed soil, remove all peaks and fill in holes prior to paving and clean either by sweeping or other approved methods. The contractor will place a tack coat and then place, level and compact 6" of asphalt and seal the perimeter of the repairs per to the specifications This contractor will be provided protection working on the access roads by Amtrak B&B forces. All work at Location 1 is to be performed concurrently with work at either Location 2 or Location 3 work, whichever occurs first. Location 2 - Tracks 8 crossing - the contractor will supply labor, materials and install 8" deep asphalt crossings in accordance with the specifications at the Track 8 crossing within Sunnyside Yard. The crossing depth is estimated from the track bed to the top of rail. Amtrak B&B Forces will remove the existing soil fill and install EPFlex Rail Seals at the crossings prior to the contractor arriving on-site. The contractor will place a tack coat, spread, level, compact and finish the asphalt areas in accordance with the specifications. The total square footage for this area approximately 900 sf. The contractor will be provided protection working on tracks by Amtrak Division B&B forces and Amtrak Division ET forces will provide AC outage as needed.
All Location 2 work is to be performed over a single weekend within the hours of 6:30am and 3:00pm. This work will occur on a separate nonconsecutive weekend to the work being performed under Location 3. It is anticipated that Location 1 will be completed in June to July of 2024. Location 3 - Track 16 to 2 Lead crossings - the contractor will supply labor, materials and install 8" deep asphalt crossings in accordance with the specifications between Tracks 16 and 2 Lead within Sunnyside Yard. The crossing depth is estimated from the track bed to the top of rail. Amtrak B&B Forces will remove the existing soil fill and install EPFlex Rail Seals at the crossings prior to the contractor arriving on-site. The contractor will place a tack coat, spread, level, compact and finish the asphalt areas in accordance with the specifications. The total square footage for this area approximately 1,200 sf. The contractor will be provided protection working on tracks by Amtrak Division B&B forces and Amtrak Division ET forces will provide AC outage as needed. All Location 3 work is to be performed on a Saturday and Sunday over a single weekend within the hours of 6:30am and 3:00pm. The contractor may elect to perform the work over two consecutive weekends for this task. This work will occur on separate nonconsecutive weekends to the work being performed under Location 2. It is anticipated that Location 3 will be completed in August to September of 2024.
