Renovation of a municipal facility in Newton, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

The successful bidder shall provide elevator modernization services for the City of Newton. The location of elevator is located at 401 North Main Ave, Newton NC 28658). The City reserves the right to add, delete or modify the job specifications pending discoveries during work and/or available funds and current needs. This project is a turn-key elevator modernization. 1) Replace and add new Controller 2) Replace and add new Power Unit, tank, Muffler and all new miscellaneous items including new oil and new fittings. Easy access to all valves. 3) Replace and add new Hoist Way Wiring. o 10% more wiring required. 4) New Door Operator 5) New car, Entrance Door & All Other Door Equipment such as car top station, alarm bell, door lock and interlock contacts, all hall door spirators/closers, door tracks, door rollers, pickup roller assemblies, hositway and car door gribs. 6) New Door Clutch and Jack Packing 7) New Main Car Fixtures 8) New Hall Fixtures with fire service key switch & jewel, and engraved instructions. 9) New Interior Panels 10) New Cab Floor 11) New Fan 12) Machine Room: o Supply and install all required signage and extinguishers. o Supply and install mini-split systems for heating and cooling. Condenser to be located on roof of canopy at exterior in front of building. Line set will be run through the existing chase in the machine room from basement to the first floor. 13) Pit Area: o Separate lighting and receptacle circuits o Supply and install pit light switch. o Supply and install guarded LED fixture. o Supply and install GFI. o Change out Pit ladder. 14) Install Smoke Detection and Recall System including replacing Simplex 4005 panel. All wiring associated with detection and recall system. 15) Disposing of any construction material. 16) Install items not mentioned above to update to current safety, fire 2019 and later Fire Service Phase II Features, ADA compliant, and NCDOL 2019-22 standards / codes. 17) Contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials including all electrical work, sub trade costs, tools, equipment, clean up, rentals, transportation and any other items that may be required to perform the work as outlined below. This shall also include all material costs, permit costs, sales tax, applicable federal, state or city taxes and/or fees. All work shall be performed in a professional, timely manner. The Liquidated Damages (LD) for this contract is Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per calendar day. The successful Contractor shall provide the City with a performance and payment bond equal to one hundred (100%) percent of the contract price. The completion time for this contract is 60 Sixty calendar days from the Notice to Proceed (NTP). The City of Newton's current goal for minority participation for public building construction is five percent (5%). The intent of these guidelines is to ensure that the City of Newton, as awarding authority for construction projects, and the contractors and subcontractors performing the construction contracts awarded, shall cooperate and in good faith do all things, legal, proper and reasonable to achieve the statutory goal of five percent (5%) for participation by minority businesses in each construction project as mandated by GS 143-128.2. The City reserves the right to waive minor irregularities or minor errors in the proposal, if it appears to the City that such irregularities or errors were made through inadvertence. Any such irregularities or errors so waived must be corrected on the proposal prior to acceptance by the City. The City also reserves the right to reject any and all proposals.
