The South Marietta Street Greenway Project will connect the current Catawba Creek Greenway (at the intersection of South Marietta Street and Osceola Street) along South Marietta Street thru downtown to the current Norfolk Southern Railroad Trail (at the intersection of East Long Avenue and North Broad Street). The project with include sidewalk improvements, high visibility crosswalk improvements, and converting two intersections to three-way stops. Bidders must be a licensed contractor in the State of North Carolina. Subject to the provisions of the State of North Carolina Contractor's Licensing Law, it will be necessary for the contractor to place his contractor's license number on the envelope containing his bid. Questions regarding documents, discrepancies, omissions, or intent of the specifications of drawings shall be submitted in writing to the owner through the Engineer prior to the date specified in the Invitation to Bid to provide time for issuing and forwarding an addendum. Any interpretation of the Contract Documents will be made only by addendum duly issued by the Owner to each person receiving a set of documents. The Owner will not be responsible for any other explanations or interpretations of the Contract Documents. The bid security accompanying the three lowest acceptable proposals may be held by the City of Gastonia, North Carolina, until a construction contract has been executed and a satisfactory Performance Bond in the sum of the full amount of the contract has been delivered to the City of Gastonia. No bid shall be considered or accepted by the City of Gastonia unless at the time of its filing the same shall be accompanied by a deposit of cash or certified check on some bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal. The bid security accompanying the three lowest acceptable proposals may be held by the City of Gastonia, North Carolina, until a construction contract has been executed and a satisfactory Performance Bond in the sum of the full amount of the contract has been delivered to the City of Gastonia. The City of Gastonia reserves the right to reject any proposal for failure to comply with all requirements of this notice or of any of the contract documents; however, it may waive any minor defects or informalities at its discretion. The City of Gastonia further reserves the right to reject all proposals or award a contract which, in its judgment, is in the best interest of the City.
