Site work for a water / sewer project in Invermere, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The DOI requires a contractor to perform the role of Prime Contractor, to complete the replacement of the current sand filter particulates at the bottom of the wastewater treatment plant’s Rapid Infiltration Basin (RIB) Cell #3A and 3B, with new coarse sand. The replaced sand layer will be 100 mm thick, and uniformly graded (maximum deviation of 50 mm), and the maximum wash loss of the used sand shall be 0.5%. The aggregate must be tested in compliance with CSA A23. 1-04. The aggregate shall contain only 1% of particles 0.075 mm or smaller. The sand replacement agreement includes a volume survey, followed by the removal of the current sand in the basin, along with hauling to, and stockpiling the sand at the designated location. The RIB surfaces will be prepared after the removal by the grading out of any existing holes or berms. The new sand layer shall be placed using equipment that causes minimal ground force, to reduce compaction of material within the RIB. The replacement sand shall not be compacted.
