Early Childhood - Center at the corner of Waukegan and Squirrel - 20 classrooms with restrooms - Kitchen and cafeteria - Large indoor play space - Large group learning area - Staff work area and restrooms - Playground Safety and Security - Construct a secure vestibule with an access request system - Install security cameras throughout the building - Add exterior card access - Add digital clocks with message display capability Exterior and Site - Construct an age-appropriate accessible playground - Purchase developmental playground equipment and surface - Complete site work for the construction of the facility - Install an underground detention system - Construct parking lot with designated pick-up and drop-off areas The Board of Education of Avondale School District is accepting firm prime contractor bids for all labor, material, equipment, and all other services to complete the Early Childhood Center, which is a 63,082 square foot new building construction. This project is subject to Prevailing Wage requirements per Michigan Public Act 10 of 2023. All awarded contractors must register with the State of Michigan LEO website yearly and provide certified payrolls. Plans and specifications are available electronically through PreconSuite or for review at the office of AUCH Construction. Only hard copy sealed bids will be accepted using the appropriate proposal forms provided by the construction manager. Bids must include a sworn and notarized familial affidavit, and those over $31,321 must be accompanied by a certified cashier’s check or a U.S. treasury listed security bid bond equal to 5% of the bid amount. Successful bidders with proposals of $50,000 or more must furnish a satisfactory Performance and Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of their bid. The cost of the bond should be included in the proposal. The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and/or all bids in whole or in part and to waive any informalities therein. The Board of Education reserves the right to accept the bid which, in its opinion, is in the best interest of the Owner. This project is also subject to the Michigan-based Business preference.
