Saving Project...

Site work for a civil project in Langley, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and water / sewer project.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Structural Construction Services group is soliciting expressions of interest from consultant project supervision companies to provide construction supervision services, outlined in Section 6 for the Highway 1 Canadian Pacific Railway Underpass Major Works contract. The scope of work includes construction supervision and contract administration for grading, paving and structures. The Canadian Pacific Railway Underpass project site is located on Hwy 1 at the existing CPR crossing, between Glover Road and 232nd Street near Langley, BC. The project consists of replacing the existing CPR tunnels with a new bridge structure crossing Hwy 1, regrading and realigning approximately 2km of rail track and widening approximately 1km of Hwy 1 within the limits of construction. The general nature of the scope includes the following: Realignment and regrading of the existing CPR alignment. Construction of a new bridge crossing Hwy 1. The structure consists of 5 spans, steel girders, a Cast-in place concrete deck with cantilevered walkway. Concrete piers and abutments with wingwall on piled foundations. Construction of temporary and permanent access roads within CPR right-ofway, as well as temporary detours on Hwy 1. Hwy 1 widening requiring grading, drainage and paving activities. Demolition of the existing CPR tunnels. The work involves most common aspects of highway construction, as well as, without limitation, the following complex or unusual aspects: Working in close proximity to an active rail line and coordination with CPR within CPR right-of-way. Temporary shoring/stabilization measures along active Rail tracks. Coordination with adjacent projects along Highway 1. Utility relocation coordination. Both permanent and temporary structures affecting the CPR assets are designed and constructed to meet rail standards and specifications. Knowledge of rail specifications is expected to be required as they may differ from typical Ministry construction standards. Managing stream diversions and drainage throughout the site, including installation of a Trenchless culvert. Managing traffic on Hwy 1 for staging and sequencing multiple traffic detours. Night-time work will be required. There may be periods where both daytime and night-time activities occur concurrently. It is anticipated that the Major Works Construction Contract will commence in spring of 2025 and complete in fall of 2028. The Ministry anticipates entering into a contract with the successful respondent for the construction supervision services by end of year 2024. Documents can be obtained from www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca
