The Work to be included in the Construction Contract is generally described as an initial Base Bid to replace the check valve on the sump discharge pipe with a slow swing/non-slam valve and to replace the piping from the pump outlets to the connection leaving the sump in the Civic Plaza Parking Garage. Contractor to provide a camera inspection through the sump discharge line to verify if a subsurface leak or break in the pipe exists, then pack the opening around the existing sump discharge opening to prevent subsurface water from entering the sump vault. Two additional options may be required after the Base Bid work is complete, as further described in Bid24066_Specifications document. Project Description: The construction services to be performed by Consultant under this Contract are to be broken into phases. Phase 1 ("Base Bid") consists of the replacement of the check valve on the sump discharge pipe with a slow swing/non-slam valve, replacement of the piping from the pump outlets to the connection leaving the sump, a camera inspection through the sump discharge line to verify if a subsurface leak or break in the pipe exists, and packing the opening around the existing sump discharge opening to prevent subsurface water from entering the sump valve. Phase 2 ("Option 1"), if the sump discharge line is determined to be damaged and if authorized in by Owner in its sole discretion, will consist of replacement of surface line. Phase 3 ("Option 2"), if the water hammer continues after the installation of the slow swing/non-slam check valve is installed on the sump discharge line and if authorized by Owner in its sole discretion, will consist of replacement of the pump starter with a new soft start/stop starter (together, the "Project").
