The University of Washington (UW or the University) is one of the nation's most distinguished educational and research institutions and has one of the nation's most beautiful campuses. The UW is soliciting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from qualified design-build teams (which may include join ventures) to design and construct the Big Ten Broadcast Control Center. The University of Washington Intercollegiate Athletics (UW ICA) is embarking on a strategic upgrade of its broadcasting infrastructure, located within the Hec Ed Arena's East Practice Court, to align with the requirements of the Big Ten Network's (BTN). This renovation involves transforming the 7200 SF open gym into the following program: (4) control rooms, (1) Technical Operation Center equipment room, (1) production studio, (1) secure storage room, (1) event space for donor events, and a mix of enclosed offices and open workstations. In addition to program, the project will require special attention to acoustics between production and social areas and install of new panelboards to service the added broadcasting equipment. Further, the new spaces will require cooling for increased equipment loads; the existing arena does not have cooling.
