White Mill Pedestrian Bridge Engineering Services The City of Danville is seeking proposals from engineering firms who wish to be considered to provide professional engineering services that support the development of of a pedestrian bridge. These services may include survey, concept plan development, detailed plan development with specifications, preparation of bid documents, interaction with city staff and city management, interaction with local businesses and citizens, and answering questions related to the design during construction. The Engineer shall develop a construction package, ready to advertise for construction, which includes a thorough and complete set of construction plans and specifications that meet the intent of the project. The Engineer shall also develop a realistic construction estimate that is within the established budget (to be determined). The Engineer shall complete all permitting documents required for the construction, including local, state and federal permitting. The Engineer shall attend the prebid meeting and shall be available and make monthly visits during the construction phase to answer questions related to the design and assist with unforeseen issues in the field. Any questions concerning this Request for Proposal should be directed in writing to Carol Henley, Director of Purchasing Department (434) 799-6528 Email: purchasing@danvilleva.gov During the performance of this contract, the Engineer agrees as follows: The Engineer will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, religion, color, sex, or national origin, except where religion, sex, or national origin is a bona fide occupational qualification reasonably necessary to the normal operation of the Engineer. The Engineer agrees to post in conspicuous places, available to employees or applicants for employment, notices setting forth the provisions of this nondiscrimination clause This project involves the repair, restoration, and adaptive reuse of the historic Dan River Fabrics bridge across the Dan River, with the primary objective of having the bridge become a functioning component of the Danville Parks and Recreation Trail System. An analysis and conceptual report was completed in May 2024 The Engineer, prior to commencing work, shall provide at his own expense, the following insurance to the City of Danville evidenced by certificates of insurance. Each certificate shall require that notice be given, thirty (30) days prior to cancellation of material change in the policies, to the Director of Purchasing. Professional Liability Insurance with minimum limit in the amount of $1,000,000.00 The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals submitted, and to waive any informality in the proposals. The right is also reserved to award the contract where it appears to be in the best interest of the City of Danville.
