Primary areas of stone shifting, and mortar joint failures were most often observed at corners of the projecting cornice. Previous repairs in these areas were observed have been done by removing existing mortar and refilling joints with a backer rod and a thin surface applied mortar joint. These repairs appeared to fill the enlarged gaps caused by shifting with a high bearing strength mortar instead of a primarily lime and sand mortar similar to the building's existing mortar material. Failed repairs were observed with mortar only installed approximately an inch in depth instead of a full veneer depth mortar. County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive informalities or minor irregularities in any bid. 5% Bid Bond, Business Relationship Affidavit & Non-collusion certification must be included in sealed bids as required . The scope of work includes and is not limited to:
Power wash and clean all work areas.
Supply and install missing stones.
Replace cracked stones that are beyond repair.
Repair loose stones.
Remove, anchor and reset Southeast and Southwest cornice.
Masonry repointing of cracks and areas that are crumbling.
Tuckpoint areas where mortar is missing.
The contractor will be responsible for traffic control setting barricades to both pedestrian and
motorized vehicles.
The Contractor will be responsible for supplying all labor, materials and equipment needed to
complete the project and clean-up of the project site upon completion.
Work must be performed Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Any work that needs to be done
after hours must be approved in advance.
The engineering report has been attached for reference and questions will be answered during the
pre-bid meeting.
Bidders must submit a written proposal and required documents listed on the invitation to bid
and include a narrative of their approach and timeline for this project.
