Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.

The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following 1. This project consists of replacing two (2) existing air handling units serving the City Auditorium with two (2) new air handling units. A new system to provide heating and cooling through chilled and heating hot water shall also be provided. This system includes air-source heat pump chiller/heaters, pumps, piping, controls, and accessories. All other work indicated in the contract documents shall also be included in the project scope. 2. The Project will be phased in a such a way to minimize the downtime of the existing facility, with the smaller air handling unit (AHU-LOBBY) intended to be replaced and operational prior to significant demolition occurring on the larger air handling unit (to be replaced by AHU-AUDITORIUM). 3. The contractor shall be responsible for protecting existing building components and shall be responsible for repairing any damage occurring to building components as a result of Project Work. The building will be occupied for for weekly events including Wednesday nights (4pm to 7pm) and Sunday mornings (8am to 12pm), but otherwise the building will be available during normal business hours. 4. The Base Bid Work is expected to occur between the dates of October 14th, 2024 and June 20th, 2025. The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is replacing the HVAC equipment in the Ames City Auditorium. Each bid shall include the bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of one year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. After award and approval of contract and performance bond, work on this contract shall substantially completed no later than June 6, 2025. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
