Site work for a mixed-use development in Prince Edward, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; and water / sewer project.
Reference Number 0000276350 The scope of work includes design of new stairs, removal of existing stairs, and installation of new stairs. The dam consists of an overflow weir section which is abutted to the south by a single stoplog sluiceway supporting a steel grate operations deck via two (2) piers. The southern pier is abutted with the south earth abutment which is contained between the upstream and downstream retaining walls. The stoplogs maintain an upstream water level and serve to prevent flooding in the surrounding area. A large building exists adjacent to the south (left) abutment which appears to include the original mill structure as well as some newer building additions. The original dam is understood to have been constructed some time prior to 1976, with a major redevelopment program initiated in the late-1970s involving the construction of the present stoplog sluice and a vertical extension of the original upstream retaining wall. In 2008, a gantry system with manual chain winches was added for stoplog operations. The scope of work includes design of new stairs, removal of existing stairs, and installation of new stairs. The design must include a P.Eng. stamp which QC must review prior to fabrication. The current stairs must be fully removed. Any exposed rebar must be protected. Any exposed concrete must be reasonably ground smooth. Any metal cut on site must be left in a smooth and safe fashion. The new stairs shall be galvanized steel, must abide by OBC and shall not decrease the tread length. The treads shall have suitable traction to assist in adverse winter conditions.
