Zone 3 Wells and Distribution System Improvements The City of Glendale is seeking a qualified Engineering firm (Consultant) or team to evaluate City of Glendale wells located in Pressure Zone 3 of the City's water distribution system. The engineering services will also include design and construction administration services. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The City of Glendale's (City) Water Services Department manages the City's water resources portfolio, which is critical to the continued growth and prosperity of the City. Groundwater wells are key water resource assets needed to meet the City's current water quality and water quantity needs. Growth and extended drought conditions have increased the need for water supply resiliency, redundancy, and long-term sustainability for utilities across the southwest, including the City of Glendale. The City's completed Integrated Water Master Plan (IWMP) identified groundwater supplies as critical facilities needed to meet the City's short and long-term water resource needs. The 2019 Well Evaluation Report and the 2021 Groundwater Well Program Report also identified several wells for either rehabilitation, redrilling, or replacement. The well evaluations in Pressure Zone 3 (Zone 3) were performed for the purpose of providing an alternate water supply within the zone during outages or potential future Central Arizona Project (CAP) water shortages. Because Zone 3's primary water supply is the Pyramid Peak Water Treatment Plant (PWTP), groundwater supply is critical to meeting current and future zone demands. A combination of existing wells and sites that could potentially allow for rehabilitation, drilling new wells or replacement wells were evaluated under the two reports referenced above. Water quality is an important project component and opportunities for conveyance pipelines to a central groundwater treatment facility will also be considered. SCOPE OF WORK The selected firm (Consultant) will work closely with various City departments, including Engineering, Water Services, and others, as needed, during all phases of the project. After the initial assessment of the wells is complete the Consultant will also provide design and construction administration services. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
