Nelson Dam Removal Project: Water Supply, Fish Passage, and Riverine Process Improvements: Phase II. Project Location: the Project is Located Within the City Limits of Yakima and Unincorporated Yakima County Between the Town of Naches and City of Yakima. A Small Portion of the Project Footprint is Located on the North Side of Us 12 Between the Westbound Us 12 Fruitvale Boulevard Off- and on-ramps. The Majority of Construction Takes Place Within Us 12 Wsdot Row Between Mp 198 and Mp 200. Additional Construction Takes Place Within Yakima County Row and Privately Owned Parcels. Project Description: the Project Goals Build Upon Phase I Construction Completed in 2023 Which Included the Removal of Nelson Dam and Construction of a New Surface Water Intake on the Naches River. The Phase Ii Scope of Work Includes the Replacement of Aging Concrete Pipes and Open Ditches With the Construction of Multiple Hdpe Pipelines With Diameters Ranging in Size From 18 to 42 Inches. Each Bid Must Be Accompanied by an Original Bid Bond Payable to the City for Five Percent of the Total Amount of the Bid. These Improvements Will Provide More Reliable Delivery Systems to Four Downstream Water Users That Traditionally Diverted at Three Separate Locations Within the Project Reach: Naches-cowiche Canal Association (Ncca), the City of Yakima, Fruitvale, and Old Union. Major Project Elements Include: Horizontal Boring Beneath South Naches Road to Install a 42-inch Hdpe Pipeline; Sliplining a New 32-inch Hdpe Pipeline Into an Existing 36-inch Cmp Pipe; Traditional Open Trench Installation for Single and Dual Pipe Installations; and a Number of Associated Pipeline Connections and Turnout Structures and Equipment (Valves, Actuators, , Meters, Flow Meters, Etc) . The Project Footprint Crosses Cowiche Creek Which Will Require the Creek to Be Dewatered for Construction. Work Within the Footprint of Cowiche Creek Must Be Completed Within the Permit Defined in-water Work Window. Installation of Meters and Valves and Communications Infrastructure Will Allow for Additional Operational Improvements. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. Estimate: the Engineers Opinion of Probable Construction Cost (Opcc) Ranges From $11m to $16m. City Retains the Right to Reject All Bids and to Waive Minor Irregularities in the Bidding Process.
