These data points will be used to make additions and corrections to Western Water's Geographic Information System (GIS) database, which contains spatial information about water and sewer assets located above and below ground. Accurate, reliable, and comprehensive data collection is critical for the maintenance, planning, and improvement of Western Water's water and sewer systems. Western Water serves a 6.5-square mile section of western Murrieta, CA, primarily in the historic downtown area of the city, as well as an approximately 4.08 square mile section of unincorporated Riverside County to the south of the City of Temecula called Rainbow Canyon. Western Water wishes to pilot a GPS data collection survey effort in the Murrieta and Rainbow Canyon service areas before expanding efforts to the rest of the District. This initiative is being funded through a recently awarded infrastructure improvement grant, reflecting Western Water's commitment to investing in cutting-edge solutions that will drive significant enhancements in our utility services. The grant funds will be used to support the comprehensive collection and analysis of field data, which will form the backbone of our infrastructure improvement strategy.
