Renovation of a fire / police facility in Washington, District of Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
General work description: The District of Columbia ("District") Department of General Services (the "Department" or "DGS"), on behalf of the Metropolitan Police Department ("MPD"), is issuing this Request for Proposals ("RFP") to solicit design-build proposals ("Proposal(s)") from offerors ("Offeror(s)") interested in serving as the design-builder (the "Design-Builder" or "Contractor") for the design and construction of a new emergency generator system, capable of supporting the facility's full building load (the "Project"). The system shall include all required automated transfer switch(s), distribution panel(s), and code-compliant Fire Alarm Systems to fully integrate into the 4th District MPD Headquarters building system. The proposed Project is located at 6001 Georgia Avenue., NW, Washington DC, 20011. 1.2. Background The current generator is operational yet has lapsed its serviceability coverage. The current system is not suited to support future load upsizing should the facility require it. MPD engaged DGS to find competent Design Builders suited to assess the current system and install a newly integrated Emergency Generator. A preliminary assessment was completed is attached here as, Attachment A2 - Conceptual Electrical Assessment Schematics. The current generator is roof-mounted. Applicable locations for the new generator could be placed on the ground level to conserve cost. The main distribution panel and Fire Alarm systems may be outdated and/or non-code compliant, requiring an upgrade. The system should benefit from having a new transfer switch housed inside the building. The selected Design-Builder will be required to perform numerous activities to create the DC Department of Buildings ("DOB"), the District Department of Transportation ("DDOT"), and the Department of Energy and Environment ("DOEE") permit-approved design and construction documents. The completed design and construction documents will be utilized for purchasing and installing Generators and Automatic Transfer Switch systems. Question Submission Deadline:August 26, 2024, 4:00pm
