Saving Project...

Renovation of an educational facility in Syracuse, New York. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 1,375-square-foot educational facility.

CR Number: 2112892 (programming, design, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration), of an architect / engineering team to renovate third-floor pharmacy clean room to meet the class 2 and 3 standards outlined in the new States Pharmacopeia (USP) clean room standards 797 and 800 guidelines. These guidelines now call for separate areas for hazardous and non-hazardous compounding and hazardous drug storage. The current space was constructed before this requirement. We are looking to determine whether this should be a modular perfricated unit vs. typical cleanroom construction. We would like to know the best and most cost-efficient way. This project looks to update the existing HVAC system, provide new HEPA filters, and update all the lighting in the area. A review of the electrical system in the area should be conducted to verify that all existing equipment can be upgraded, and that any new equipment can be added without issue. We currently have three hoods and would like to increase it to six. In doing so, we would like to replace our existing hoods with newer, more energy-efficient ones that require less exhaust. These changes will significantly decrease waste in IV and other sterile compounded products produced by increasing their use, dating from 12-24 hours to 14-30 days. To expand the compounding area, we are displacing 2 office workstations, which will result in a need to create an office area for clinical pharmacists who supervise the area. The outcome of this renovation is to meet the needs of our increasing drug-compounding demand. This will improve the clinical experience regarding outcomes, patient safety, satisfaction, waiting times, and throughput times, allowing us to keep up with the growing number of patients. The project area is approximately 1375 square feet. There will be no formal site visit nor will tours of the facility be given prior to the receipt of responses to the RFQ. A minimum of 5 years of experience in design of pharmaceutical laboratories and hospitals for both the architectural firm and its team members is required.
