Project Location: M-37, Springville and Slagle Townships, Wexford County, Michigan. There are multiple locations to this project along M-37 south from M-115 in Mesick to M-55. This bid document has an attached sheet listing the specific location. dimensions, and tonnage of HMA to be used. The quantities provided are estimates only. The intent of this work is to cold mill a butt joint along the edge line of M-37 to create a reveal. The cold milling will extend to the end points of approach tapers or approach radiuses. This butt joint would be tapered away from the lane approximately 4’ then pave the approach with a 2 inch (220 lbs/syd.) overlay. It is assumed that with the failures, potholes, and missing asphalt the average yield would be closer to 285 lbs/syd. HMA placed over gravel only will be placed at a thicker rate. Some of the approaches will require HMA raised edge for drainage. The approaches requiring raised edge will be laid out and directed by the Engineer. Approach width and length varies by location. The existing HMA paved approaches will be paved to a point 50' from the center of M-37. Gravel shoulders will be placed after completion of the paving work.
