Renovation of a medical facility in Pueblo, Colorado. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

The Department owns and operates three Regional Centers (RCs) located in Wheat Ridge, Pueblo, and Grand Junction that offer ICF/IDD and/or HCBS waiver services to approximately 200-250 individuals. The Regional Centers provide 24-hour residential services, medical care, behavioral services and support for daily living to Medicaid-eligible adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Housing and treatment is provided in approximately forty (40) group homes located in Pueblo, Wheat Ridge, and Grand Junction. Group Homes - located throughout the State, there are eleven (11) located in Pueblo West, nineteen (19) scattered throughout the Denver Metro area including the Kipling Village enclave, and eleven (11) in the Grand Junction region. These group homes were designed and constructed as residential units for individuals with developmental disabilities in the early 1980's. Since then, the complexity and acuity of the population residing in these homes has greatly increased and the group homes sustain higher degrees of abuse and wear while the bathrooms have not been updated. The Regional Centers in Colorado are dedicated to improving the quality of life, safety, and independence for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by offering them the necessary support needed to promote the personal values of individual growth, participation, contribution and community integration. The facilities have unique needs based on their demography; but face challenges due to a lack of funding. The acuity of individuals has increased, and the programmatic needs have expanded for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities served by the Regional Centers since the RC's and the group homes were built. Scope of Services This project is for necessary improvements to the "front of house" bathrooms in 28 group homes that were built in the early 1980s. This request will improve the residents' quality of life and address safety issues within the existing bathrooms. The front of house bathrooms have seen continuous wear and tear and need to be updated to include current ADA standards such as grab bars. These bathrooms also require new bathtubs as they are undersized and not appropriate for the residents and their physical needs. These bathtubs are used for pain control and calming/mental health along with basic hygiene. The floors and walls in these bathrooms have seen continuous use and are beginning to deteriorate and may require structural modifications especially for a new larger tub.
