FY25 Guardrail String Trimming. If not already certified with the ABI Office at the City of Asheville, bidders are further invited to become certified with the City of Asheville as an MWBE vendor. Request for Bids for the string trimming of City of Asheville guardrails. Also included is the removal of trees less than 6 inches in diameter at breast height at the direction of the City inspector. Description of Bid: This contract covers the string trimming of City of Asheville guardrails. Also included is the removal of trees less than 6 inches in diameter at breast height at the direction of the City inspector. Removed trees shall be trees that are either growing through the guardrail or in front of the guardrail. The City desires three complete of guardrail trimming be performed under this contract: November 2024, May 2025 and August 2025. The City of Asheville has approximately 29, 329 feet of guardrail in 151 sections. String trimming will involve the trimming of all grass in front of the guardrail and a 1 foot wide area behind the rail and removal of vegetation from the rail. The contract also calls for the removal of selected trees/bushes that have grown through the guardrail. Only trees less than 6 inches in diameter at breast height will be removed. No trees/bushes shall be removed without City approval. A list of guardrail sections can be found included in this document. Three cycles of string trimming is required during the life of the contract. The contract will expire August 31, 2025. The City requires contractors/vendors entering into a contract with the City to provide a drug-free workplace in the performance of said contract. The contractor, upon execution of the contract, certifies that it will provide a drug-free workplace during the performance of the work on this contract.
