Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Byron Center, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.

The Kent County Purchasing Division is soliciting bids on behalf of Kent County Parks Department for roof replacement, Skylight replacement, and insulation addition at Douglas Walker Park 1195 84th St SW Byron Center, MI 49315. The enclosed shelter has a vaulted gathering space that is poorly insulated creating excessive heat loss and issues with ice formation in the winter. Work may begin as early as 10/1/2024 and must be completed by 4/1/2025. Once the project is started, work will be continuous until the point of completion. SCOPE Option #1 - Gathering room structure only. o Remove existing roofing, skylights, underlayment, and drip edge to original sheathing. o Replace or repair any rotted sheathing. o Re-nail existing plywood or other boards as needed. o Furnish and install Atlas ACFoam Polyios Roof Insulation, Hunter Cool-Vent Panels, or equivalent with a minimum R-value of 20.5 over the outlined roof area and finish roof edges per manufacturer recommendation. o Furnish and install 8 new Velux curb mounted fixed glass skylights Model 4646. o Furnish and install new 1 1/2 " T-style drip edge, color: Brown. o Furnish and install synthetic underlayment and ice & water shield per MRC code R905. 2.7.1. o Furnish and install ridge vent entire width of roof. o Furnish and replace all flashing, pipe boots, and vents. o Asphalt shingles to be CertainTeed Landmark Pro, or equivalent - Color: Weathered Wood. o Remove and replace sheathing on porch roofs as necessary in order to allow access and installation of insulation to the lower roof deck covering the interior space. o Furnish and install ventilation on porch roof as necessary for proper performance. o All lawn/landscaping areas shall be restored to their pre-construction status. o Construction schedule to be coordinated with the Parks Department. Option #2 - Gathering room plus remainder of structure o This includes all items in Option #1 plus the option to replace shingles, underlayment, flashing, drip edge, and vents on the remaining non-gathering portions of the structure. Dimensions, if furnished, are for general reference only and should be verified by Respondent. Kent County will award and contract for the goods and services in this Solicitation in an efficient and timely manner. In no event will notification of award be more than 45 days from the date of submission. Any and all communication regarding this Solicitation shall be on the Kent County Purchasing Division Inquiry Blog via the online page or during pre-proposal meetings. Question Deadline 09/02/2024 at 2:00 PM ET No Bid Bond is required if Respondent's offer is less than $500,000. If the offer is withdrawn after Solicitation opening, Respondent may be removed from the Bidder's List ("Vendor Registration") pursuant to online section D.13 Failure to Perform Satisfactory. Each offer over $500,000 must be accompanied by a Bid Bond executed by the Respondent and payable to County of Kent for 5% of the total amount of the offer. Attorneys-in-fact who sign Bid Bonds, Payment Bonds or Performance Bonds must file a certified dated copy of their Power of Attorney. A certified check, bank draft, cashier's check, or negotiable U.S. Government bond (at par value) may be submitted In lieu of a Bid Bond. Personal checks are NOT acceptable. Each contract over $50,000 must be accompanied by a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each payable to the Owner (County of Kent) and each in the amount of 100% of the contract price with a corporate surety approved by the funding agency, for the faithful performance of the contract. If requested, the Original Bid Bond must be received by the Kent County Purchasing Division within 2 business days of request. Bid Bonds of unsuccessful Respondents will be returned after the Solicitation is awarded. The Bid Bond of the successful Respondent will be retained until the contract is fully executed by all parties involved. Kent County reserves the right to determine the response format or not respond, at its sole discretion.
